Tour Pululahua Crater Hike Full Day
Pululahua Volcano is one of the best natural spots near Quito city to just fifty minutes from Quito Old Town and close to the Middle of the World Latitud 0. It has been a protected area since 1966 being the first National Park in the main land. Now as a Geobotanic reserve, it houses countless of floral and fauna species. A big dome Pondoña was formed from the last erruption 800 years ago. In fact, It is considered an active volcano because there are some hotsprings in the interior of the caldera. This is the unique Volcanic Krater in South America where people (colonos) can live into this place producing potatoes, beans, corn farms and other kind of agriculture products. In addition, in the last ten years, local people are working on toursim offering ride horses, hiking trails, camping, and agriculture expiriences leaving with families in there. Let’s do hiking in the Pululahua Crater.
Our Tour Pululahua Crater Hike Full Day will start from Quito at 07:00 am. Our private transportation will pick you up from your hotel and then We will continue to the Pululahua Geobotanic Reserve that is just 50 minutes from Quito Center to this reserve. Once we get to the main entrance, we are going to register our visit in. After that, we will take a time for preparing our stuff to start this nice Tour Pululahua Crater Hike Full Day. A decline from 2800msnm to 2450msnm low área we will take for 30 minutes. Once we are here, we will have 2 hiking options;
Chivo trail
Tour Pululahua Crater Hike Full Day
Option 1. The whole path is 1100m, one hour. We will pass some pre-mountain forest and an ascent to get to the Chivo Summit. We will have enough time to take pictures and enjoy our box lunch and start our decline.
Pondoña trail
Option 2 This path is quite longer than the first one. 2.5km 2 hours. The main idea will be to get to the Pondoña Summit.
After this, we will go up to the viewpoint. It will take us 50 minutes more. Afterward, we are going back to the hotel at 16.30pm. End of our Tour Pululahua Crater Hike Full Day.
